Reading is such a beautiful town, and one of the biggest towns in the UK not to be granted city status! Because of its size, there are many different venues in the city to choose from, and some just slightly out of the city. Here are eight venues that had outstanding reception spaces…
1. Ufton Court
This charming Grade I listed manor house is set within 16 acres and features a 16th century timber-framed wedding barn! As it’s quite a metropolitan area, you’ll struggle to find something as country as this. Choose from one of three places to marry in and the best part? All profits go to a children’s charity! Read more and book here.
2. The Old Rectory
Dating from the 1600s and located in the countryside of Royal Berkshire, The Old Rectory has six bedrooms and a courtyard lodge to stay in and prepare for the day. For the actual wedding itself, there is a beautiful orangery for up to 140 guests, manicured grounds for mingling and canapés and various catering packages. There are in-house wedding planners too!
3. The Roseate Reading
This venue is set within a magnificently restored Edwardian mansion that is now a 5* hotel with 55 bedrooms. It’s right in the city centre and they only offer bespoke quotations rather than packages to ensure you have a unique wedding tailored to your individual tastes. You will get a wedding coordinator to help you plan your day, and the reception/ceremony room is beautifully decorated with flowers around the wood-panelled walls!
4. Old Luxters Barn
Just a short drive out of Reading, Old Luxters Barn is an 18th century rustic wedding venue with a church within walking distance. It’s actually a winery and a brewery with a vineyard also onsite in addition to farm house accommodation. You get exclusive use of all of it if you so wish, and you can have one hell of a party – there is no noise limiter! What a great venue!
5. Henley-on-Thames Town Hall
The Town Council in this area has numerous venues across the town for you to hire for weddings, but our favourite is the Town Hall. You get help throughout the entire wedding process from booking hotels for guests to choosing your caterers. It’s close to all public transport and there’s a church in walking distance. And it looks amazing inside!
6. Hotel du Vin
Choose to dine inside or out at this venue. Hotel du Vin is situated on the bank on the River Thames. It’s a gorgeous Georgian building located in the Brakspears Brewery, and features three function rooms for up to 120 guests. The wedding coordinator on site can discuss everything with you from flowers to a bespoke menu. There are 43 luxurious suites for your guests to get ready and stay in too.
7. Easthampstead Park
As Reading is a bustling town/city, you would think it was limited in grand stately homes set in parkland. Well, just a few miles out, you will find the perfect country house! Easthampstead Park is a Victorian mansion in 60 acres of parkland. They host wedding fairs throughout the year for you to see the wedding for yourself so make sure to click this link. There’s even the option for gorgeous outdoor weddings!
8. Bishopswood Golf Course
And finally, a venue to travel to. If you don’t mind going just a little further, about 25 minutes drive away is this golf course. There are three beautiful fucntion rooms that can cater for between 30 to 120 people. There are beautiful gardens, water features and of course there’s a golf course for wedding photos. The view across the golf course is certainly a pull but we love how customisable the event space is.
