Derby is a beautiful city, surrounded by stunning postcard countryside. Derbyshire is home to over 125 civil licensed wedding venues, and they’re all fantastic places to tie the knot, but there are some that just add something extra to make your day one you’ll remember fondly for years to come…
1. The Stuart Hotel
This Best Western wedding venue can accommodate 100 people for a wedding breakfast and up to 200 for evening buffets! Smaller, intimate rooms are also available and they hold a civil license so you can get married here too. You will have your own separate entrance and The Stuart has 100 ensuite bedrooms for your guests to stay in.
2. Knockerdown Cottages
If you’re looking for a venue where you can do everything yourself without being restricted by the venue, Knockerdown Cottages may be the one for you. It’s a completely DIY, self-catering venue which means you’re in charge of most of the costs. There is cottage accommodation for up to 90 guests, an onsite spa and beautiful views of the Derbyshire countryside. This one is just outside of the city and prices start from as little as £2,000.
3. The West Mill
For more of an industrial, unique look, The West Mill is a great option. It’s a historic mill that has been brought back to life after being lovingly restored to present a unique wedding venue experience. What we love the most about this place? No corkage fee and no hidden costs. You know exactly what you will get for exactly how much is quoted with no unpleasant surprises.
4. Jurys Inn East Midlands
Not famous for weddings but a great, easy and affordable venue nonetheless. Jurys Inn offers three suites that can be customised to suit your ceremony. There are event staff on hand to help you plan your perfect day and they offer an all-inclusive package.
5. Newton Park
This grand country house set in gorgeous landscaped gardens can seat up to 100 guests for a wedding breakfast and up to 160 for the evening reception. Newton Park is lavishly decorated with exclusive use available and bespoke packages too.
6. Shottle Hall
Part of the famous Chatsworth Estate, Shottle Hall prides itself on offering the very best service to brides and grooms. You will get exclusive use of the house and gardens, eight bedrooms and a four poster bridal suite, a luxury coach house marquee, a ceremony pavilion and stunning views of parkland, and prices start from as little as £1,500!
7. Yew Lodge Hotel
Set in tranquil gardens and with over 60 years of experience in hosting weddings, Yew Lodge Hotel is an ideal Derbyshire wedding venue. 8. Makeney Hall Hotel
An 18th century country house, six acres of gardens and fountains and incredible views, the only covered wooden outdoor ceremony area in Derbyshire and exclusive use of the hotel including five function rooms? Makeney Hall Hotel is a dream venue!

If freshly cooked meals using locally sourced products doesn’t swing you on the catering, the fact that the Lion Hotel has an authentic stone baked Italian pizza oven might just do it. But it’s not just good for catering! There are 22 bedrooms for guests, newly renovated function rooms and gardens, two rooms to choose from and all within an 18th century coaching inn.
10. Blackbrook House
