Why You Should Get Married in Bristol

Bristol is a beautiful place in the UK and one you should definitely consider tying the knot in. Not only is there an abundance of wedding venues here, but Bristol is home to some pretty cool stuff as well…

1. Ribena was invented here

If you live in the UK, then you must have a slight love/obsession with Ribena. Who wouldn’t want to get married in the birthplace of Ribena?! And as you’ll see from this list, Bristol shouldn’t just be proud of being the home of this delicious berry blend…

You really can't get anymore Ribenary than Bristol.

2. And Wallace and Gromit

Yes, producers of the famous duo Aardman are based in Bristol. Wallace and Gromit along with Shaun the Sheep and all the other brilliant characters they spend hours creating out of plasticine, are made right here in Bristol. The city even had dozens of individually designed Gromits dotted around the city one year.

3. Which explains the creativity

Bristol is filled with incredible street art. It really is beautiful! Once a drab concrete thoroughfare, streets are now illuminated with brightly coloured walls and fascinating displays.

This is definitely an upgrade from a boring old block of flats!

4. It’s also home to a really cool bridge!

Kind of Bristol’s landmark, the Clifton Suspension Bridge really is a sight to see. It’s been around for over 150 years and puts the city on the map. We love it and it makes a great background feature for wedding photos.

5. And plenty of green space and waterways

As if a giant suspension bridge wasn’t a good enough background, Bristol is a very green city filled with parks, lakes and rivers. It was the European Green Capital in 2015 and everyone seems to have their favourite park in the city.

6. There are cool hidden spaces

Bristol’s motto should be ‘don’t judge a book by its cover.’ This trend seems to have swept across the entire city. They have theatres in breweries, secret bars underneath Indian restaurants and even art galleries…in toilets!

Ok so they don't make the theatre in the brewery quite so secret...

7. The city has its own form of currency

There is certainly an independent uprising in Bristol. There is a strong independent feel to it and Gloucester Road must have more independent shops than any other in the UK. There’s even an independent mayor and of course the Bristol Pound with the pound sign rounding to shape like a B.

They're big on supporting local here.
