Peterborough and its surrounding area is a fantastic place to tie the knot with a variety of venues, from affordable hotels for intimate weddings to grand stately manors for a grand affair! We picked seven we absolutely loved here…
The Great Northern Hotel
This venue is located conveniently near the train station that has a route straight to London in less than an hour so if you have many guests travelling, it’s a great stop. They have a dedicated wedding team and a private hotel entrance for weddings with a red carpet welcome. The rooms are lovely and you will be staying in the Parisian suite! Click here for more info.
The Queens Head Inn
For a fabulous riverside wedding, The Queens Head Inn in Peterborough is an ideal spot. There is a choice of fully inclusive wedding packages and the venue can host up to 120 guests. It’s an award-winning venue for food and drink, and caring and attentive staff will accommodate you on the day.
Holmewood Hall
Fancy a grand affair? Holmewood Hall is a Tudor gothic style mansion in 10 acres of manicured grounds and parkland, and has been hosting weddings for over 25 years. Enjoy a drink in the Champagne bar before moving to the spectacular Gold Room with a 50ft golden aisle and fireplace. There are also 15 luxurious bedroom suites, and your evening event can host up to 350 guests!
Kimbolton Castle
How about Katherine of Aragon’s last residence? This incredibly historic venue is in 120 acres of parkland featuring two small lakes, woodland and lawned areas. Kimbolton Castle has professional in-house caterers, an outstanding collection of fine art, exclusive use of the state rooms and enough room to accommodate up to 120 guests.
Deene Park
Just a little further out of Peterborough but still in a reasonable travel distance is Deene Park near Corby. You would think the highlight is the incredible castle-style historic country house, but it’s actually the gardens here that are a real draw. Your marquee there will be lined and furnished, surrounded by lake views, panoramic parkland and the prettiest rose and topiary garden, exuding British finesse.
Normanton Park Hotel
Another waterside wedding venue, Best Western’s Normanton Park Hotel has a beautiful orangery used for weddings overlooking Rutland Water’s southern shore. It’s an 18th century courtyard hotel. It’s a stone’s throw from Normanton Church, a beautiful church popular for weddings that juts out into the reservoir. The view and photo opportunities is the highlight for us!
Barnsdale Lodge
And finally, there’s Barnsdale Lodge in Oakham. This stunning hotel sits on the north shore of Rutland Water with the potential for marquee weddings like the one pictured, but also weddings in its dedicated event hall, lined as if it were a marquee for special events. You will get a complimentary bridal suite for the night of your wedding and they are licensed for civil ceremonies.
