If you live out of the area of even if you live in the city and you’re debating whether to marry in the centre, let us tell you why you should definitely consider it! Birmingham is a beautiful city and it’s perfect for hosting weddings…
1. Top chefs and great food
Birmingham has more Michelin star restaurants than anywhere else outside of London and plenty more eateries serving incredibly tasty food on top of that! Have fabulous wedding catering, late night evening snacks or just general dining if you’re in the city for a few days.
2. Stunning canal settings
Looking for somewhere unique with beautiful backdrops for your wedding photos? Birmingham is a great choice for its network of canals. Have a wedding by the water and maybe even take a ride along the winding rivers that make up the city.
3. Heaps of historical buildings
Birmingham is bursting with history and filled with historical buildings that set the perfect scene for a wedding. Whether on the outskirts at locations like Aston Hall and Castle Bromwich Hall or in the centre itself at the Old Library in Zellig for instance, there are plenty to choose from.
4. But a modern side too
In artsy creative quarter Digbeth, walls are painted bright colours, murals fill alleyways and phenomenal works of art decorate derelict buildings. This allows you to get some really cool wedding photos to add to the album! This one was taken at Fazeley Studios in Digbeth.
5. Brummies are the best!
If you’re not familiar with the place, locals are some of the friendliest in the country! They’re actually polite on public transport and everything…it’s a wonderful community that embraces all walks of life.
6. There’s countryside in the city
It’s a rare city in that you’ll come across an abundance of wildlife and nature and beautiful green spaces right in the heart of the concrete jungle. Lickey Hills Country Park for instance was gifted to the city in the 1800s. All this countryside is another great backdrop for your wedding photos.
7. Have a ‘blinder’ of a wedding day
And of course, Birmingham is the home of the Peaky Blinders! Strut the streets like Tommy Shelby, feel as fabulous as Polly and let your groomsmen live it up like Arthur, John and Finn. If you’re a fan of the Peaky Blinders, this is a great place to get married! Note: Although set in Birmingham, the show was actually filmed mostly in Black Country Museum!
